Sukabumi (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin observed the readiness of SMAN 4 state high school in Sukabumi, Wednesday morning, before the resumption of face-to-face teaching and learning activities there from Monday (July 13).

During the visit, Amin issued several directives regarding preparations for the resumption of face-to-face teaching at SMAN 4 Sukabumi.

"I express my gratitude and appreciation to the governor for being able to control the transmission of COVID-19 in West Java. That is not easy, and I also laud the mayor for making Sukabumi City a green zone," the vice president noted in his directives in Sukabumi, West Java, on Wednesday.

Amin lauded SMAN 4 for applying various innovations to maintain health in the school environment ahead of the resumption of face-to-face teaching and learning activities.

However, the vice president believes that innovations should be applied not only in schools but also crowded places, including markets and terminals.

Amin also sought sustained consistency from regional leaders in green zones, so that their regions are always safe from COVID-19.

SMAN 4 Sukabumi, located on Jalan Ir.H. Juanda No.08 Sukabumi City, is viewed as being a role model for applying face-to-face teaching while adapting to the new normal order after Sukabumi City was declared a green zone.

SMAN 4 Sukabumi has 30 classes, with some one thousand students. This school is among those with historical value in Sukabumi City.

"Founded by Jan Jakob Snor on August 23, 1930" in Dutch are inscribed on the south wall of the school building.

The school building was built with special quality teak on an area of approximately 930 square meters on a land spanning 10 thousand square meters. Initially, this school was used for Dutch primary schools for children of Chinese descent.

Prior to the resumption of face-to-face teaching at SMAN 4 Sukabumi, various health protocol facilities and infrastructure have been readied, ranging from temperature gauges, sinks, disinfectant sterilization, and the provision of hand sanitizers.

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil affirmed that the government and SMAN 4 will not compel parents to send their children to attend face-to-face teaching if they still harbor concerns.

Ridwan also noted that students residing in areas outside the green zone may not attend face-to-face teaching at school.
