Meulaboh, Aceh (ANTARA) - Flooding has swamped Pasir Village, Meulaboh, West Aceh District, since Saturday (July 11), causing damage to 42 homes.

"We are still trying to access the extent of damage caused by the tidal flooding," Head of the West Aceh Disaster Mitigation Office (BPBD) Mukhtaruddin stated here on the night of Sunday (July 12).

The houses situated in hamlets bore the brunt of the flooding. Of the total, 14 homes incurred moderate damage, two were heavily damaged, while 26 others suffered slight damage.

The local BPBD personnel have continued to evacuate residents on the seafront and have moved them to the West Aceh BPBD Emergency Post located in the Teuku Umar Square, Meulaboh.
