The convict has been identified as Ami Utomo, or AU. The 42-year-old was allegedly running an ecstasy lab out of a VVIP room at the AR Private Hospital in Central Jakarta after being shifted there from prison two months ago.
Police have found ecstasy pills, moulds, colorants, and a phone from his VVIP room.
Confirming the news on Thursday, chief of the Sawah Besar Police Criminal Unit, Iptu Wildan, said: "We have investigated the wardens that were in charge of ushering AU. So far, we are examining them as witnesses. If there is further development, we will release the information."
As part of the investigation, police will also summon nurses, doctors, and the hospital management to provide their testimony about AU.
"Tomorrow, there will be an examination of doctors and nurses from the hospital," he said.

Up until now, everyone who has been examined has been questioned as a witness, and additional suspects are yet to be identified in connection with the case, he informed.
Earlier, on Wednesday (August 19, 2020), the Sawah Besar Police Criminal Unit had arrested AU and a drug courier, identified by his initials as MW (36), for producing illicit drugs in the hospital room.
AU was sent to Salemba Prison after he was convicted in a drug possession case involving 15 thousand ecstasy pills. He has served two years of his 15-year jail sentence.
Two months after he was shifted to the AR hospital in Central Salemba due to a medical complaint, AU was arrested for producing ecstasy pills in his private room.
The convict had been shifted to the hospital after complaining of gastric problems.
