Jakarta (ANTARA) - A medium-intensity earthquake of magnitude 4.7 jolted the southern parts of Java Island early on Monday, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The earthquake was centered some 70 kilometers southeast of East Java's Pacitan District, at a depth of 65 kilometers, the agency reported on its official website.

The tremor struck the southern parts of Java, stretching from Bantul District in Yogyakarta to Tulungagung District in East Java. The quake, with an intensity of II on the Modified Mercalli Scale, was felt in Bantul, Karangkates, Trenggalek, and Tulungagung.

No injuries or casualties were reported.
