"Concurrently, staying productive in conducting main duties and functions of the ministry in an optimal manner is deemed crucial. I highlight the dangers of COVID-19 without shying away from ensuring that the ministry stays on course," Plate noted in a statement received here, Monday.
The minister called for all to not take COVID-19 lightly, and to this end, he encouraged the public, especially the ministry’s workers, to abide by health protocols.
Minister Plate believed that the COVID-19 pandemic can be handled and overcome efficiently, as long as societal elements exercise discipline in applying health protocols.
The minister reiterated on using masks properly and covering the nose and mouth while also calling on the people to refrain from recklessly touching their masks, as it is a protective tool to safeguard against COVID-19 that can be even more effective with the inclusion of a face shield.
Before touching the face, eyes, and mouth, people should wash their hands with soap, especially before changing or putting masks back on.
Moreover, the public is reminded to maintain a safe distance of some 1.5 to two meters between one another. In the interim, interactions involving physical contact should be avoided, and all should steer clear of crowds.
"This is an important note since it also includes an appeal to postpone visits to crowded places if it is not necessary," he stated.
The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has implemented a work-from-home policy since August 28 after employees at the ministry’s complex tested positive for COVID-19. According to the latest data from the Ministry, 49 employees tested positive for COVID-19, of which 18 have made a recovery, and none died.
In his statement, the minister announced that the headquarters, in the central Jakarta area, will be closed until September 11. Employees will return to working from office since Sept 14.
In the meantime, Plate is working from his official residence at the Widya Chandra Ministerial Complex.
