May our cooperation become an important part of our historical record to maintain the existence of the nation and the state of the Republic of Indonesia.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (Kemendes PDTT) and the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) will jointly launch counterterrorism efforts to maintain peace at the village level in disadvantaged regions and transmigration sites.

The two agencies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect on Wednesday.

“May our cooperation become an important part of our historical record to maintain the existence of the nation and the state of the Republic of Indonesia,” Minister of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, Abdul Halim Iskandar, said in his address at the signing of the MoU at the ministry here on Wednesday.

In principle, every Indonesian citizen is responsible for maintaining peace of the nation and state, particularly in villages in disadvantaged regions and transmigration sites, he remarked.

“This is not merely the responsibility of BNPT to deal with radicalism and terrorism. But this is the responsibility of all of us as the sons of the nation because this is one of the prerequisites for the nation and state to continue to exist,” he added.

Therefore, he said, the MoU reflects his commitment, as the son of the nation, and the commitment of the ministry to jointly thwart the potential emergence of intolerance, radicalism, and terrorism.

Meanwhile, BNPT Chief Inspector General, Boy Rafi Amar, said he and BNPT is very happy to sign the MoU with the Ministry of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration.

"We are very happy," he remarked.

It is not merely the responsibility of BNPT, but all elements of the community as well to fight, combat, and eliminate the threats of radical intolerance, radical-terrorism, and terrorism crimes, he said.

To this end, he called on the ranks and file of the ministry as well as the entire nation to fight against terrorism for the sake of national peace through exchange of information and data, and counterterrorism at the village level in disadvantaged regions and transmigration sites, among other things.
