Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NT (ANTARA) - Adjunct Senior Commissioner Aldinan RJH Manurung, the Kupang Police chief, tested positive for COVID-19 allegedly after coming in close contact with Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Edhy Prabowo also infected with the virus.

"That is right. According to the swab test, the Kupang Police head is confirmed to have contracted the COVID-19 infection," East Nusa Tenggara's COVID-19 Task Force spokesman Marius Ardu Jelamu stated here on Wednesday.

After testing positive for COVID-19, Manurung had undergone quarantine at the Bhayangkara Titus Uly Hospital since Tuesday (Sept 15).

The NTT task force team immediately investigated other people, who had come in close contact with the Kupang police chief.

He explained that the search should be conducted quickly to thwart the transmission of COVID-19 in the district bordering Oecusse region, Timor Leste.

He also noted that Manurung had earlier undergone independent quarantine.

Minister Prabowo, who had paid a visit to Kupang on Aug 29, 2020, has been undergoing self-isolation, and his condition has shown signs of improvement, according to media reports.
