Jakarta (ANTARA) -
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has outlined a target to have the Patimbang Harbor access road in Subang, West Java, ready for logistics vehicles to ply.

"This access road is a concrete manifestation of the bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Japan, with a loan scheme of Rp1.2 trillion. To this end, the work must be accomplished and completed on time. Currently, the construction work has reached 98.3-percent completion and is targeted to be opened for logistics vehicles on October 30," PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono noted in a statement in Jakarta, Friday.

The minister affirmed that the Patimban Harbor access road was also one of the follow-up agendas during the meeting between President Joko Widodo and former Japanese Prime Minister Yusuo Fakuda, concurrently chairman of the Indonesia-Japan Association.

The ministry is handling the construction of an access road to Patimban Port spanning 8.2 kilometers. Patimban Port, as a container port, is one of the national strategic projects to lower the burden on the highly saturated Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta.

The Patimban Port, supported by access from the Pantura Java road, is expected to boost export activities originating from industrial areas around Cikarang-Cibitung-Karawang to Cikampek and facilitate the flow of national logistics.

The Patimban Port access road, constructed with pile slabs of 5.9-km length, 1.6 km of flyovers, and 0.7 km of flexible pavements, mostly features elevated roads over rice fields with soft soil.

Currently, the PUPR Ministry is also preparing to build a toll road that connects the Cipali Km 89 + 125 toll road to the 37.5-km Pantura section, so that it will be connected to the Patimban access road.

Furthermore, the Patimban Port Toll access project, at an investment value of Rp7.5 trillion, was initiated by a consortium between PT Jasa Marga, with 50 percent; PT Surya Semesta Internusa, with 25 percent; PT Daya Mulia Turangga, 10 percent; and PT Jasa Sarana, 10 percent.
