Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian police investigators summoned eight suspects on Tuesday over the case of a fire that ravaged the Attorney General's Office (AGO) building on Sultan Hasanuddin Dalam Street, South Jakarta, on Aug 22, 2020.

The suspects, summoned for questioning on Tuesday at 10 a.m. local time, comprised T, H, S, K, IS, UAN, R, and NH, General Crimes Director of the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) Brig. Gen. Ferdy Sambo stated here on Monday.

Five of the eight suspects are identified as construction workers, while three others are a project supervisor, president director of PT ARM, and an AGO official responsible for a construction project within the AGO complex area.

The police investigators had earlier interrogated 64 witnesses in connection with the AGO blaze incident and declared the preliminary result of their probe that concluded that the five construction workers' cigarette butts were causal to the blaze.

The police charged the suspects under Articles 55 and 56 of the Indonesian Criminal Code. If found guilty, they will be subject to a five-year prison term. Related news: Bareskrim interrogates 19 witnesses over fire at AGO
