Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has claimed it has approved applications for tax incentives from 211,476 taxpayers other than micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs), as of November 2, 2020.


"As we look at taxpayers' data, (we can see) the pandemic has had a significant impact on the business world in the form of a decline in their turnover and the absorption of workers," Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said during an online working meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) here on Monday.



The 211,476 applications include 129,744 applications for government-borne income tax Article 21, 14,085 applications for exemption from income tax Article 22 on imports, 65,699 applications for reduced installments under income tax Article 25, and 1,948 applications for accelerated tax refunds.



On a sectoral basis, the applications are dominated by the trade sector, with 99,007 applications, or 46.82 percent of the total applications; the manufacturing industry with 40,905, or 19.34 percent, applications; the construction and real estate sector with 14,653, or 6.93 percent, applications; and, the corporate service sector with 13,454, or 6.34 percent, applications.



Based on a preliminary analysis of taxpayers' payment data, the government has come to the conclusion that fiscal incentives have had an impact on the continuation of their businesses, Indrawati said.
