Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Wishnutama Kusubandio urged hotels and restaurants in the super priority tourist destination Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, to implement health protocols based on Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE).

Kusubandio noted in a statement here on Friday that the CHSE certification is crucial for the tourism industry, particularly for hotels and restaurants, to reclaim tourist confidence.

"This is aimed at offering a sense of security and comfort to tourists when they visit a destination that applies the health protocols. This certification has been aligned with world tourism organizations, such as the UNWTO and CTTI, as well as the Health Ministry," he remarked.

The ministry had earlier offered free CHSE certification for the tourism industry in 34 provinces across the country.

Inaya Bay Hotel, Ayana Komodo Resort, and The Jayakarta Suite Komodo are the three hotels in Labuan Bajo to have obtained the certificate.

Some other hotels and restaurants in the region have also sought to obtain the certification.

Director of the Labuan Bajo - Flores Tourism Authority Board Shana Fatina stated that the CHSE certification will ensure the health, safety, and security of tourists visiting Labuan Bajo.

In addition to the CHSE certification, Fatina affirmed that the region’s tourism industry will apply digital technology.

Through the Indonesia Care application, tourists can seek destinations that already have the CHSE certificate or location categorized as a green zone.

"Tourist can also locate hotels, ships, and restaurants that have already obtained the CHSE certificate. Hence, in an emergency situation, tourists can click the 'emergency call' button to directly connect to an integrated post for faster response. This will make tourists feel safe during their visit to Labuan Bajo," Fatina noted. Related news: Ministry issues guide on health protocols for hotels, restaurants
