Today, I come here in the capacity of a citizen to meet a summons from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Anies Baswedan, the Governor of Jakarta, met the Jakarta Metropolitan Police's summons to clarify about crowds at esteemed Islam Defenders Front (FPI) leader Habib Rizieq Shihab’s Central Jakarta house during the transition period of large-scale social restrictions.

"Today, I come here in the capacity of a citizen to meet a summons from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police," the governor stated at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters here on Tuesday.

Baswedan, along with his staff, arrived at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters at 9:43 a.m. local time.

The governor confirmed having received the summons from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police on Monday, Nov 16, 2020.

"I received the summons, dated Nov 15, 2020, on Nov 16, 2020. (The police) summoned me for a clarification over the (event) on Nov 17, 2020, at 10 a.m. local time in the morning," he revealed.

Baswedan is among those summoned to clarify on the alleged violation of health protocols during the wedding of Shihab's daughter on the night of Saturday, Nov 14, 2020.

The police will also summon the FPI leader for a clarification on the wedding of his daughter and the commemoration of Prophet Muhammad's birthday at his house during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, the police will summon the neighborhood unit chief, community unit chief, security personnel, village-level head, sub-district head, and Central Jakarta mayor for questioning.

In addition, the police will summon representatives from the religious affairs office, COVID-19 task force, and legal bureau of the Jakarta provincial administration.

The event had brought together some seven thousand people.
