When (they) arrived at the scene, the fire had been spreading
Temanggung, C Java (ANTARA) - A fire that broke out in the wee hours of Friday razed six shops and five houses and caused injuries to two people in Temanggung District, Central Java.

Chief of the Temanggung District Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and Fire Department Agus Munadi stated that the agency received a report of the fire at 2:10 a.m. local time, while the firefighters arrived at the scene at 2:30 a.m. local time.

"When (they) arrived at the scene, the fire had been spreading. The strategy we applied (to put out the fire) was for isolating the fire. Thus, we did not focus on extinguishing it first but isolated it (from) other buildings in the densely populated area," he explained.

At least 14 fire trucks were dispatched to extinguish the blaze that erupted at around 2 a.m. local time on Friday.

"To put out the blaze, firefighters must repeatedly draw water from the water source in Pikatan. Since we ran short of fire trucks, we sought help from the Magelang (fire department)," he revealed.

Chief of the Public Protection and Fire Section of the Temanggung District Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and Fire Department Gito Walngadi stated that the fire caused by short circuit was put out at around 8 a.m. local time.

Walngadi confirmed that a resident and a firefighter got injured in the blaze.
