Tarakan, N Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A total of 121 paramedics at the Tarakan Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in North Kalimantan Province tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), its acting director, M. Hasbi Hasyim confirmed.

"Based on results of swab tests we have conducted on 500 (paramedics), 121 of them tested positive," he remarked here on Friday.

Under the efforts to trace paramedics exposed to coronavirus, the hospital has obtained swab samples from its 100 paramedics on a daily basis, he revealed.

Currently, several polyclinics at the Tarakan General Hospital are closed after some of their officers contracted the virus.

According to the Tarakan City Task Force for COVID-19 Response, 716 residents tested positive for COVID-19 as of Thursday (Nov 26), with 404 people recovering, 305 people being treated, and seven people succumbing to the infection.
