Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) praised the Joint SAR Team including Basarnas (National SAR Agency), Transportation Ministry, Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) personnel over search and evacuation of Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 crash victims.

"I would like to express my gratitude and highest appreciation to the joint SAR team comprising the Ministry of Transportation, Basarnas, TNI, Polri, and KNKT as well as all elements that I cannot mention one by one for the hard work since the start of the disaster until now," the head of state noted here on Wednesday.

Jokowi visited the Emergency Command Post for the Sriwijaya Air SJ182 Evacuation process at the ex-Jakarta International Container Terminal II Pier at Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta.

"We have found large and small pieces (of the ill-fated plane's wreckage), and (one part of) the black box has also been found. We are just waiting for the CVR," he remarked.

The head of state also witnessed the presentation of compensation from insurance company Jasa Raharja worth Rp50 million to each passenger. Sriwijaya Air has also provided compensation of Rp1.25 billion.

"Once again, I thank you for this compensation, and it will be resolved immediately for all victims and passengers," he stated.

The head of state again expressed his deep condolences to the families of the victims of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane that crashed in the waters around Pulau Seribu District, Jakarta, on January 9, 2021, killing 62 people aboard the Boeing 737-500.
