Anybody found keeping, possessing, and trafficking drugs will be processed legally.
Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA) - The police in South Sumatra Province arrested 49 people suspected of trafficking and consuming crystal methamphetamine, ecstasy pills, and hashish in the second week of February 2021.

Of the total people arrested, 41 were named suspects in drug trafficking and eight named as suspects in drug abuse, spokesman for the South Sumatra Provincial Police Senior Commissioner Supriadi stated here on Thursday.

During the raid, the police also confiscated 452 grams of crystal meth, 3.2 kilograms of hashish, and 147 ecstasy pills.

On Wednesday (Feb 10), the drug investigation directorate of the provincial police, along with the Musi Banyuasin district police, arrested a rubber farmer, identified by his initials as Tf, on charges of possessing 25 kilograms of crystal meth retrieved from his car.

In view of the higher number of drug cases, the South Sumatra Provincial Police have stepped up its crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse, he stated.

"Anybody found keeping, possessing, and trafficking drugs will be processed legally," he noted.

In addition to intensifying its crackdown on drug abuse, the police also urged the public to fight against drug abuse and trafficking in cooperation with the police, he stated.

Supriadi drew importance of parental participation in safeguarding the environment, including the children, from the dire impacts of drugs that can destroy the mental outlook and future of the younger generation, he noted.
