Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - The West Java Police's Internal Affairs Division (Propam) detained 12 police officers, including the chief of Astanaanyar district police precinct, on grounds of allegedly consuming a narcotics drug, a police spokesperson stated.

"The Propam officers continue to grill them," West Java Police spokesperson Sen. Coms. Erdi A. Chaniago told local journalists in Bandung, the capital of West Java Province, on Wednesday.

This drug offense could be exposed owing to a report by local residents on alleged drug misuse at the Astanaanyar police precinct in Bandung City filed at Indonesia's National Police headquarters, he stated.

In order to follow up on the public report, the West Java Police's Propam officers arrived at the Astanaanyar police precinct to conduct urine tests on the 12 cops, but the test results are yet unavailable, Chaniago noted.

The Propam officers continue to probe the case, and if the cops are found guilty of consuming the narcotics drug, they will be sanctioned, ranging from a reduction in ranks to dismissal.
