In his closing remarks at the 6th National Conference of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) in Jakarta on Monday, he said the cooperative enables citizens to access basic necessities at lower prices.
The cooperative can also absorb production from farmers, fishermen, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), he added.
"This will be realized, and the people will gain economic power because all villagers will automatically become cooperative members," Prabowo said.
He noted that prices of basic necessities have become more affordable thanks to the government’s policy of shortening the supply chain from producers to cooperatives.
The government also plans to develop cooperative businesses by building cooperative supermarkets in each district, hypermarkets at the provincial level, and national distribution centers for local products.
Prabowo added that this effort will be paired with a policy to reduce the prices of rice, cooking oil, subsidized LPG, and subsidized fertilizer, as well as introducing solar power in every village to achieve energy independence.
"We've calculated that this will significantly ease the burden on our people. Rice and cooking oil will be cheaper, LPG and fertilizer subsidized, and solar power plants built in every village," he said.
He also announced the acceleration of the public housing program, increasing the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) quota to 350,000 recipients.
"Today I will inaugurate the distribution of 25,000 houses," Prabowo said, emphasizing that the program is expected to significantly ease the burden on people’s lives.
