Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo has ordered the dismissal of Chief Brigadier CS without honors after he shot dead three people, including an army personnel, at RM Cafe, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, on Thursday.

As disclosed in a telegram that General Prabowo issued following the fatal shooting, Chief Brigadier CS, a member of the Kalideres police precinct in West Jakarta, must also be brought to court.

Issuance of the Telegram No.ST/396/II/HUK.7.1./2021, dated February 25, 2021, is aimed at preventing a similar incident from recurring in future, National Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono stated.

The telegram, signed by Deputy Police Chief Coms. Gen. Gatot Eddy Pramono, on behalf of Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, was also aimed at nurturing the strong relations between the police and Indonesian Defence Forces (TNI), he stated.

In upholding the synergistic relations between the National Police and TNI, Prabowo also instructed his men to adopt a proactive approach in bolstering their joint activities with their TNI counterparts in communities.

Prabowo also instructed the implementation of stricter rules for borrowing guns for police officers and more rigorous monitoring measures for weapons.

The fatal shooting of S, an army personnel stationed as a security guard at the café, and FSS and M, employed as a waiter and cashier respectively, took place on early Thursday.

Chief Brigadier CS also inflicted wounds on the RM Cafe manager, identified as HA.

Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesperson Sen. Coms. Yusri Yunus was quoted by local media outlets as saying that CS had arrived at the cafe on Thursday at 2 a.m. local time. He consumed liquor until the cafe was shut at 4 a.m. local time.

CS reportedly squabbled with the cafe's worker while he was paying his bill. In an inebriated state, he then opened fire that resulted in three people being killed and another person being wounded, Yunus was quoted by local media outlets as saying.

Indonesia's National Police and TNI have enjoyed sound relations and synergistic collaboration for decades, though these two vital institutions have at times been challenged by sporadic incidents.

On August 29, 2020, several army personnel attacked the Ciracas police station in East Jakarta. They vandalized several vehicles during that the early morning attack. Related news: Police confirm CS named as suspect in Cengkareng shooting case
