The RPIK has taken into account the regions' spatial planning, including the balance between social-economic activities and environmental carrying capacity.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The district/municipality industrial development plan (RPIK) that is complaint with spatial planning is important to increase investment and industrial competitiveness, thereby necessitating proper management and integration, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated.

"We continue to enhance the development of the integrated industrial estate, with various supporting facilities, and be aligned with environmental preservation," Kartasasmita noted in a statement here on Friday.

The RPIK contains the direction for industrial development in a region for the next two decades that encompass industrial estate development in the respective regions.

"The RPIK has taken into account the regions' spatial planning, including the balance between social-economic activities and environmental carrying capacity," he expounded.

The ministry's Director General of Regional Resilience and International Industry Access, Eko SA Cahyanto, lauded the development of industrial estates that have applied the environment-friendly concept.

Cahyanto cited the example of the Deltamas and Jababeka industrial estates that have developed drainage and flood control infrastructure.

"We encouraged industrial estate management to prepare for likely floods during the rainy season. We also called on the industrial estate to have in place a mitigation plan on natural disaster," Cahyanto remarked, adding that flooding would affect the production process and logistical flow for the industry.

"We emphasize that industrial estate development must meet the requirement for environmental license," he pointed out.

Speaking in connection with industrial activities during the pandemic, Cahyanto remarked that the ministry had issued the operational and industrial mobility license (IOMKI) to ensure the implementation of health protocols.
