Solo (ANTARA) - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo urged the public to not be “careless” and strictly adhere to health protocols, even after receiving the Sinovac vaccine shot, to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection.

"I ask you to keep implementing the health protocols until the second phase of vaccination. Fourteen days after the second phase of vaccination, your body will feel healthier. But once again, don't be careless," said Ganjar while monitoring the COVID-19 vaccination program at Klewer Market here on Thursday.

He asked the public to strictly adhere to health protocols in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19. That would allow traders to trade normally, he said.

After the vaccination drive for traders at Klewer Market is complete, the governor said he expects vaccinations to be carried out in other places.

"God willing, all the traders can sell (goods) well. This is good, the vaccination is starting to run smoothly. The community is very enthusiastic. Hopefully, this vaccination can be accelerated… the mayor (Mayor of Surakarta) has coordinated it," he added.

He said the COVID-19 vaccination drive at Klewer Market will last until Friday.

"Hopefully, the public can be safer and avoid the COVID-19 disease," he remarked.

Earlier, Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, said 3,800 traders participated in the vaccination drive at Klewer Market. Vaccinations are also being carried out in several other markets, including Pasar Gede.

The vaccination drive at Pasar Gede covered 680 traders, he informed.

Ganjar said the traders have welcomed the vaccination drive with great pleasure and there has been no resistance from them. (INE)
