Jakarta (ANTARA) - Postal service company PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) distributed Rp34.7 trillion (US$2.41 billion) of Social Cash Transfer (BST) to 94.6 million beneficiaries since the social aid program's launch early on during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.

"The total social cash transfer distributed (to beneficiaries) has amounted to Rp34.7 trillion as of now, or some 99 percent," head of the BST distribution of PT Pos Indonesia Haris noted in a statement here on Tuesday.

Haris remarked that the state-owned company will continue to support and work closely with the government to speed up the process of national economic recovery.

PT Pos, partnering with the Social Affairs Ministry, has implemented 11 stages of BST distribution.

"We are ready to cooperate and build synergy to facilitate national economic recovery. Despite the difficulties and complexity in the distribution of aid to all regions across Indonesia, PT Pos Indonesia has made its best efforts," Haris stated.

The company has worked in close collaboration with the Social Affairs Ministry in the distribution process and data update on new beneficiaries.

The government has launched social cash transfer for 10 million beneficiary families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, with each family receiving Rp300 per month.

In 2021, the social aid will be distributed only from January to April.
