One patient was pronounced dead on Wednesday (March 17, 2020) around 2.20 a.m. local time.
Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - The death toll from the March 10, 2020 bus accident in Sumedang district, West Java, rose to 30 on Wednesday, a local hospital reported.



One more passenger of the bus breathed his last while receiving treatment at the Sumedang General Regional Hospital (RSUD).



"One patient was pronounced dead on Wednesday (March 17, 2020) around 2.20 a.m. local time," spokesperson for the hospital, Dahlan, said.



Earlier, two other passengers had died after being rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.



Six others who survived the accident are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Meanwhile, passengers who were declared healthy have been allowed to return home.



"In total, 29 people have returned home and six people are being treated at the Sumedang General Regional Hospital," he said.



A total of 65 passengers were traveling on the bus when it plunged into a 25-meter-deep ravine in West Java's Sumedang district on Wednesday (March 10, 2021).



It is believed the driver lost control of the bus due to brake failure.



Police have not yet disclosed the cause of the accident. However, they have interrogated a number of witnesses. (INE)
