The normal operating hours for the Yogyakarta International Airport, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta, which range from 12 hours, will be cut to half, Acting General Manager of the Yogyakarta International Airport Agus Pandu Purnama stated here on Monday.
"The reduction in operational hours cut will come into effect from May 6. However, we are still discussing it by adjusting the schedule of airlines serving flights from the Yogyakarta International Airport," he added.
As a consequence of the "mudik" ban this year, airlines will also reduce the number of flight services, thereby resulting in the Yogyakarta International Airport and other airports being affected and having to adjust their operating hours accordingly.
However, restriction on the operational hours should be coordinated by PT Angkasa Pura I and several airlines.
"Wait for May 1. I will gather (officials of) all airlines operating at the Yogyakarta International Airport. We will convey the decision later," he stated.
Airlines operating at the Yogyakarta International Airport are Lion Air, Sriwijaya Air, Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, and Batik Air.
Purnama noted on Sunday (April 25) that the number of passengers arriving and flying through the Yogyakarta International Airport recorded a slight increase for the day. A total of 2,939 passengers departed, while 2,177 passengers arrived at the new airport.
