Some 90 people are positive (for COVID-19).Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - At least 90 Indonesian migrant workers have been hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment in Batam City, Riau Islands province, according to the Batam City chapter of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Repatriation Task Force.
"Some 90 people are positive (for COVID-19)," chief of the task force, Sigit Dharma Wiryawan, who is also commander of the Batam Military District Command 0316, said here on Monday.
Another 34 Indonesian migrant workers have been quarantined in Batam shortly after their return from Malaysia, he informed.
Nine of the 34 migrant workers are undergoing quarantine at a flat provided by the Batam city administration, while 25 others are conducting self-isolation, he added.
Hundreds of Indonesian migrant workers who have arrived in Batam since the start of the holy month of Ramadhan have returned to their hometowns across Indonesia, he said.

Separately, chief of the Batam City Health Office, Didi Kusmarjadi, said the nine migrant workers are undergoing quarantine at one of the three flats provided by the city government.
The nine migrant workers comprise four men and five women, he said.
"Of the 90 people who tested positive (for COVID-19) at RSKI (Special Infection Hospital), 17 will be discharged today, while 73 others (will remain at the hospital)," he added.
At least 55 Indonesian migrant workers are scheduled to arrive at the Batam Center Port from Situlang Laut on Monday evening.
They will be required to take swab tests and undergo quarantine if they test negative for COVID-19, he said. However, if they test positive for COVID-19, they will be treated at RSKI, Galang Island, he added. (INE)
