Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has forecast heavy rains accompanied by lightning and strong winds in nearly all areas of the largest islands in Indonesia on Tuesday.

In the description of the video on the BMKG social media account accessed on Monday night, BMKG official Marlin Denata remarked that the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region could likely be hit by strong winds, while heavy rains along with lightning and strong winds could be experienced in other areas.

Other areas on Sumatra Island forecast to receive torrential rains accompanied by lightning and strong winds are Aceh, Riau, Riau Islands, Jambi, Bengkulu, and Lampung.

Kalimantan Island is expected to receive heavy rains along with lightning and strong winds.

In the meantime, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, and Gorontalo can also experience similar weather conditions.

The BMKG has also forecast heavy rains accompanied by lightning and strong winds in Eastern Indonesia, starting from Maluku, North Maluku and West Papua and Papua.

Meanwhile, Bangka Belitung, Jakarta, West Java, East Java, and North Sulawesi are forecast to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
