Flight traffic at the AP II airports, including the largest Soekarno-Hatta Airport, declined by 90 percent as compared to the preJakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I recorded the number of air passengers during the Eid-al-Fitr homecoming ban on May 6-17 at 74,878, or equal to the daily average of 74,589 on January 1-May 5.
The frequency of flights at 15 airports under the management of PT Angkasa Pura I during the homecoming ban reached 2,556, PT Angkasa Pura I Vice President/Corporate Secretary Handy Heryudhitiawan noted in a press statement released on Wednesday.
The highest number of air passengers was recorded at Juanda Airport in Surabaya reaching 17,149, followed by 12,901 at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, and 12,315 at the Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar.
With the revocation of the ban on Monday, 11 airports under the management of PT Angkasa Pura I have adjusted to the operating hours since May 18, 2021. The number of operating hours was reduced during the homecoming ban.
The adjustment of operating hours to the pre-homecoming ban has increased the number of air passengers at the 15 airports to 107,104 on Tuesday (May 18) as compared to 8,782 the day before.
The number of passengers, which reached 107,104 on Tuesday, was higher than the daily average of 74,589 during the January 1-May 5 period.

This indicated that people did not travel except in an urgent situation," Awaluddin noted in a press statement here on Friday (May 7).
The COVID-19 Handling Task Force has issued Circular Number 13 of 2021 on the Eid-al-Fitr homecoming ban to stem the transmission of COVID-19 during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
The ban is excluded for logistics distribution service vehicles and travelers with urgent needs for non-mudik purposes, specifically work or business trips, sick family visits, funeral visits of family members, and pregnant women accompanied by one family member and childbirth purposes accompanied by a maximum of two people.
Travelers across cities, districts, provinces, and countries during the ban period must have a printed written travel permit, or Exit-Entry Permit (SIKM), as a term and condition to travel with the set requirements.
