"Connectivity is a determining factor for the development of a city and smart transportation is an option," the minister remarked at an online seminar on 'Smart Transportation System in the Capital City’, organized by the Research and Development Center of the Ministry on Tuesday.
According to Sumadi, the transportation system policy for the capital city will fully implement new technologies and focus on environmentally friendly transport through the use of electric vehicles, railways, and the integration of air transportation through the development of a new airport.

The policy, he said, will open opportunities for the people to contribute to developing the transportation sector in the capital city.
“We are also designing the city in a way that will create an opportunity for academics to contribute to the concept, and for the people to get business opportunities, job vacancies, and knowledge mine, especially for the younger generation," Sumadi said.
He added that the government hopes for all stakeholders in the transportation and connectivity sectors to collaborate in developing the capital city.
He said he believed that a smart and integrated transportation system in the new capital will serve as a symbol of Indonesia’s technological advancement and civilization in the international community. (INE)
