Funds to finance construction of the dam in Sepaku will be sourced from the State Budget (APBN), Nicko Herlambang, head of the North Penajam Paser Secretariat's Development Section, remarked here on Friday.
"Budget of some Rp1.4 trillion has been derived from the state budget for the construction of the Sepaku-Semoi Dam to cater to the clean water requirements in the new state capital," he stated.
Of the budgeted amount, around Rp800 billion will be utilized for land acquisition and around Rp676 billion for physical construction of the dam.
Development process of the Sepaku-Semoi Dam is currently in the stage of land acquisition. The team has begun by conducting data collection and mapping and will later assess the prices of lands needed to be released by local owners.

The letter to decide on the location to construct the dam in Sepaku Sub-district was signed by East Kalimantan Governor Isran Noor on December 20, 2019.
Several villages, such as Sukomulyao, Argomulyo, and Tengin Baru, will be affected by the dam construction project that is expected to have a capacity of 11.6 million cubic meters and can discharge 2,400 liters of water per second.
The Sepaku-Semoi dam will cover a total area of some 378 hectares comprising 36 hectares for the body of the dam and a pool area of some 342 hectares.
The auction for the dam construction was conducted and decision will be taken on the winner and the signing of the work contract.
"The signing of the work contract for the physical construction of the dam with a third party will be conducted after 640 land parcels of the construction site are released," he remarked.
The Sepaku-Semoi Dam will also serve the purpose of flood control as well as function as a tourism area and reservoir as well as a conversion of the Tengin Baru watershed.
