Prabowo arrived at the summit venue, Mactan Expo, in a Maung car—a light tactical vehicle produced by Indonesia’s state-owned defense company Pindad.
Upon his arrival, President Prabowo was welcomed by Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Marie Louise Araneta-Marcos. They then posed for a group photo in the summit's welcoming area.
Prabowo, dressed in a black suit with a blue striped tie and a black peci—a traditional cap widely worn in Indonesia—entered the waiting room to await the arrival of other ASEAN leaders.
His arrival was followed by Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, and Timor-Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão.
Other leaders who arrived shortly after included Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, accompanied by his son, Prince Abdul Mateen.
Following the welcoming session, the ASEAN leaders then entered the hall for the opening ceremony of the 48th ASEAN Summit.
A traditional Philippine arts performance kicked off the ceremony, followed by remarks from the host.
President Marcos Jr. then invited all leaders onto the stage for a group photo, featuring the signature "ASEAN handshake" pose.
After the ceremony concluded, the leaders moved to the waiting room before the main session of the 48th ASEAN Summit, which was set to begin at 10:00 a.m. local time.
