Nunukan, N Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A speed boat ferrying 30 passengers, including seven children, capsized on Monday afternoon while en route to Sebuku Sub-district, Nunukan District, North Kalimantan Province.

Five of the boat’s passengers, including three children, died in the mishap, according to the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas)-Tarakan Office.

The boat overturned at 1:28 p.m. local time in the waters near Pelaju Village, Sembakung Sub-district, Nunukan District, after its skipper reportedly lost control while navigating a turn in choppy waters, the agency's coordinator, Aminuddin, said in a press statement released on Monday afternoon.
