Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah confirmed that the Community-based Vocational Training Center (BLK) could ramp up the training capacity for job seekers to 68 thousand people per year.

"Based on the assumption of two training packages per year for each Community BLK, we can increase the training capacity of approximately 68 thousand job seekers per year," Fauziyah stated at the inauguration of 1,014 Community-based Vocational Training Center (BLK) in Tasikmalaya, West Java, Tuesday, which was broadcast online.

The minister remarked that since 2017, the Ministry of Manpower had helped establish 2,127 Community-based BLK spread across various religious institutions and trade unions.

Fauziyah pointed out that Community BLK were established under the government's breakthrough program to broaden access to vocational training and bring job training facilities closer to the community.

The minister noted that through the Community BLK, the government was keen to reach those not covered by government or private training institutions.

During the inauguration of the Community-based BLK, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that speed, accuracy, and efficiency were crucial foundations in building competitiveness in the employment sector.

"The real challenge faced is what strategic steps we must take in preparing human resources that are able to face future challenges related to digital technology, such as big data, artificial intelligence, and internet of things," the vice president remarked.

Amin inaugurated 1,014 BLKs for 2020 during the "National Conference on Vocational and Entrepreneurship" at the Cipasung Islamic Boarding School, Tasikmalaya, West Java Province, on Tuesday.

"In 2020, the Ministry of Manpower had built 1,014 Community-based Vocational Training Centers (BLKs), bringing the total number of completed Community BLKs to 2,127, spread across Indonesia," Vice President Amin noted in Tasikmalaya, West Java, on Tuesday.

The total number of Community BLKs has exceeded the government’s target of two thousand set at the time of its launch in 2017, the vice president stated.

"This means it has exceeded the target set during the declaration, which is to build two thousand Community BLKs, but it turns out that 2,127 were successfully built, thereby translating to the fact that it had exceeded the target," he pointed out.
