The nation's financial recovery, impacted by COVID-19, has increased owing to the ease of access and digital financial features that drive the amount of tax payment.
"We praise Tokopedia, as an Indonesian tech firm, for providing various digital innovations that (allow the public to get) easier access to financial and economical inclusion, including state revenue. This innovation is expected to contribute to national development, public service, and digital economics while also aiding recovery of the state's financial condition impacted by pandemic," Sri Mulyani elaborated on Wednesday.
Sri Mulyani has praised the digital economic feature of Tokopedia Tax Counter (Loket Pajak Tokopedia), a collaboration between the government and Tokopedia.
National and regional tax payments reportedly increased around three folds during the first quarter ever since the launch of the service, an improvement from last year.
Such news pertaining to the increase in tax payments comes as positive news on the occasion of National Tax Day 2021.
"Through technology and various strategic allies, including the government, Tokopedia brings out various innovations to allow the general public to fulfill needs amid the pandemic, including tax payment in a fast and secure manner," Tokopedia's Director for Public Policy and Government Relations, Astri Wahyuni, stated.

Tokopedia provides payment for over 900 types of state revenue, including Online Tax (income tax, value added tax, and stamp duty), Non-Tax State Revenue, and Customs.
In comparison with the corresponding period last year, a four folds increase in the state revenue payment via the Third Generation State Revenue Module connected to Tokopedia was recorded during the first quarter of 2021.
Specifically in the first quarter of 2021, online tax payments registered a threefold increase, Non-Tax State Revenue payments grew five folds, and customs payments were boosted by up to six folds.
With E-Samsat being one of the services offered, the public in regions, such as West Java, Central Java, East Java, Riau Islands, East Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi, will no longer need to step out of their homes to pay vehicle tax.
A threefold increase in payment made by public was also recorded through E-samsat.
Through collaboration between the government and Regional Revenue Office, the general public in 160 cities and districts can pay their Land and Building Tax. Reports point to a fourfold increase in Land and Building Tax payments during the first quarter of 2021.
"The COVID-19 emergency has made people do more activities at home. Apart from maximizing state revenue, we also hope this feature would facilitate their lives, so they can pay their taxes safely and easily from home," Astri further elaborated.
