Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government is using the State Asset Management Information System (SIMAN) digital application to educate the public about varied types of state assets, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated.

"SIMAN is used for informing the public that state assets do not merely revolve around taxes, customs, and debts, as it is also related to the spending aspect and assets that are beneficial to the economy," Minister Indrawati remarked.

The minister made the statement in her remarks during the Reksa Bandha Award event in Jakarta on Wednesday.

In her speech, the state treasurer emphasized the importance of disseminating information on the crucial role of state assets to the public for the sake of fostering and enhancing the culture of properly managing State Property (BMN) in Indonesia.

In fact, she affirmed that the government has been consistently making efforts to bolster the culture since it realizes that it has never been an easy task to collect state assets.

Indrawati remarked that efforts to educate about state assets and disseminate information to communities are not only carried out by the Ministry of Finance, noting that other ministries, institutions, and relevant stakeholders have also been taking part in building the people's awareness of the vital role of BMN.

"We all acknowledge that BMN constitutes one of the components of state assets that we prudently organize, collect, and manage in the hopes of maintaining the government's accountability," she remarked.

In addition to serving as an instrument for educating the people, SIMAN is being used as a tool of the Finance Ministry for managing and recording state assets, so they can lead to added value for the economy, she added.

The SIMAN application was devised by the Finance Ministry's Directorate General of State Assets with the objective of facilitating the process of tracing and updating Indonesia's state assets.

The application serves as proof of the government's efforts to optimize information and communication technology to manage and utilize state assets.

By using SIMAN, the government can manage BMN in a quicker and more efficient manner since the application serves as a one-stop platform that helps parties to virtually record and monitor state assets.
