Knowledge is our power, and nothing can take that power away from us.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The University of Indonesia (UI) Teaching Movement 11 (GUIM 11) held a fundraising online seminar titled "Preparing a Bright Future", the proceedings of which will be channeled to assist schools in remote regions of Sumedang District, West Java Province.
"Knowledge is our power, and nothing can take that power away from us," GUIM 11's Vice Project Officer, Adinda Yusra, noted in a written statement received here on Monday.
The event that was held recently was attended by 90 participants from various institutions. It hosted two millennial speakers, who discussed topics on scholarship and the world of work.
Dara Nasution was the speaker for the first session. The woman, nicknamed Dara, is currently pursuing her education at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, with a scholarship.
During her session, Dara highlighted the benefits of prioritizing working after graduation before pursuing higher education.

Dara also shared some information on scholarships, such as the types available as well as some advice on how to acquire them.
During the second session, Fauzan Al-Rasyid edified the participants on the career journey and various information pertaining to the world of work.
Al-Rasyid has spent the past nine years working in various positions, ranging from being a lecturer at UI to being an editor in Russia Beyond the Headlines. He emphasized the importance of passion as a fuel to foster focus and creativity in work.
In his presentation, he also brought up several issues that fresh graduates often face at the start of their career and offered solutions to those problems.
The GUIM is a public service movement that targets the education sector, with primary schools as the priority focus.
