The forum was formed to help ease the burden on the country that is currently fighting the COVID-19 pandemic
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Sixty organizations on Sunday (July 25, 2021) declared their support for secretary general of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Sudirman Said, and Gadjah Mada University (UGM) professor M Baiquni to lead the Humanitarian Solidarity Forum.

The declaration was read online by Nursyahbani Katjasungkana and Professor Winda Mercedes Mingkid.

"This Humanitarian Solidarity Forum is an open forum, uniting the power of people from all over Indonesia and abroad, to help the country out of the COVID-19 pandemic," Katjasungkana said in a written statement issued here on Monday.

The forum approved UGM Professor M Baiquni as the coordinator of its board of directors and PMI secretary general Sudirman Said as its national coordinator, she informed.

The Humanitarian Solidarity Forum comprises cross-generational, cross-regional, cross-gender, cross-profession, and interfaith-dialogue members, Katjasungkana affirmed.
