We hope and invite the public, let's act, especially those with extra wealth, to donate as you are able to the people in needSolo, C Java (ANTARA) - Cosplaying as Hanoman from Ramayana and Naruto from the eponymous manga, two Solo residents handed out food to people in Manahan Ward, Banjarsari subdistrict, Solo City, Central Java on Tuesday.
Accompanied by a Small Unit of Disaster Mitigation from AKBARA Polytechnic Surakarta, they handed out meal packages to becak (three wheeler) drivers and vegetable sellers in the vicinity of Plaza Manahan. The packages comprised boiled eggs, drinks, and masks.
"We (are) sharing boiled eggs breakfast in this chance for becak drivers and vegetables seller. Each of them are given three eggs, sauce, salt, hot tea, and a mask so their immune (system can) stay strong," said Partika Subagyo Lelono, who as dressed in the Hanoman costume and coordinated the social initiative.
He said 300 boiled eggs have been distributed to the public so far under the social initiative, adding members of his group are adhering to the health protocols by wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and avoiding crowds.
"We have distributed the boiled eggs by changing places (every now and then) to comply with the health protocols," he added.
"We hope and invite the public, let's act, especially those with extra wealth, to donate as you are able to the people in need," he implored.
Among the recipients of the free breakfast was Sukardi (57), a becak driver.
"I am assisted immensely (by the gesture)," Sukardi remarked.
He said he expects the COVID-19 pandemic to end soon so that the public can resume normal activities.
