As many as 43,558 packages have been distributed directly to families hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Law and Human Rights Ministry has distributed 46,614 social assistance packages through the 'Kumham Peduli' program to communities across regions.

“As many as 43,558 packages have been distributed directly to families hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna H Laoly informed here on Thursday.

Moreover, the collective assistance donated by the ministry’s officers has been disbursed to 3,056 state civil apparatuses affected by COVID-19, he added.

The social assistance packages have not only been distributed to urban residents, but also communities living in areas bordering other countries, Laoly said.

The social assistance packages comprised staple foods such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, instant noodles, canned sardines, and milk, the minister informed.

Laoly expressed the hope that the public would not judge the assistance based on the number or its contents since it mirrors the sincerity and solidarity of the ministry’s officers towards them.

He urged the public to remain vigilant, confident, and observe the health protocols strictly and sustainably.

“Only by doing those ways, we can tackle this COVID-19 pandemic together,” he remarked.

The disbursal of assistance was in line with the President’s directives that ministries and institutions help COVID-19-affected communities, the minister said.

Laoly then called on all members of the public to work hand-in-hand in supporting the government’s policies for battling the COVID-19 pandemic, especially the enforcement of public activity restrictions (PPKM).
