This is what we need to realize as the new reality to pursue novel opportunities amid the pandemic. To this end, innovation, adaptation, and collaboration are our primary keys in better facing the ever-evolving dynamics
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno laid emphasis on the triad of innovation, adaptation, and collaboration for better acclimatizing to the mega shift in the pandemic-affected tourism and creative economy sectors.

In an official statement quoted on Friday, Uno expounded that innovation entailed the use of digital platforms to market creative products to maximize services.

Adaptation is complying with health protocols in the new normal era, while collaboration encompasses cooperation with the pentahelix elements, so that the tourism and creative economy sectors can recover and revive at the earliest.

This is because hygiene, low mobility, less crowding, and minimal contact typify the tourism economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The minister has also often called such characteristics as personalized, customized, localized, and smaller in size.

"This is what we need to realize as the new reality to pursue novel opportunities amid the pandemic. To this end, innovation, adaptation, and collaboration are our primary keys in better facing the ever-evolving dynamics," Uno elaborated.

The minister also pointed to the transformation in the 3A concepts -- attraction, amenity, and access -- owing to developments in the country’s tourism economy.

The minister stated that culture and nature are being prioritized, as destinations offering eco, wellness, and adventure are gaining popularity and will be the main attractions in the tourism industry.

Uno noted that amenity or hospitality had become an important concept for entrepreneurs to apply in handling consumers.

However, the minister asserted that hospitality had to imbibe the characteristics of the new tourism economy that laid emphasis on cleanliness, minimal contact, and less crowding.

"This is because during the pandemic era, tourists are increasingly prioritizing cleanliness, health, safety, and environmental sustainability," he emphasized.

In facing the upcoming changes, the minister has also encouraged entrepreneurs working in the tourism and creative economy sectors to make preparations to cover all aspects of their tourism destinations.
