Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - Aceh Governor Nova Iriansyah spoke on economic recovery during and after the COVID-19 pandemic at the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) meeting, the 18th Chief Minister & Governors Forum (CMGF).

"Aceh is open to investment, and we are committed to offering ease of business by improving the investment climate and infrastructure," Iriansyah stated during the online meeting at the Aceh Governor's Hall, Banda Aceh, on Friday.

The governor noted that his side will extend all possible aid and support to partners to explore, trade, and invest in Aceh.

The various forms of aid are expected to make the IMT-GT area an integrated, innovative, inclusive, and sustainable area.

State Minister for Kelantan Malaysia Dato Haji Ahmad bin Yakob highlighted the importance of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand working together for handling the pandemic.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has not only destroyed health but also impacted the economies of our three countries," Yakob stressed.

The state minister noted that the meeting was held to discuss and address issues faced by the three countries in the scope of the IMT-GT business cooperation.

It was also conducted to discuss the achievements as a follow-up to the previous IMT-GT meeting.

South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru stated that the COVID-19 pandemic had prolonged for over a year.

Deru expects this cooperation to restore the economic conditions of the three countries.

"This IMT-GT Forum is expected to yield tangible benefits for the three countries," he stated.

Attendees at the meeting comprised the governors of Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, Bengkulu, Riau Islands, Bangka Belitung, and Lampung.

Eight chief ministers of the Peninsular Malaysia State and 14 governors from the provinces of Thailand were also present at the meeting.
