Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's state-owned publishing company Balai Pustaka, in collaboration with Farmalab, distributed one thousand book packages to COVID-19 pediatric patients treated at the Wisma Atlet COVID-19 Emergency Hospital, Jakarta.

"Balai Pustaka, in synergy with Farmalab, is providing a source of entertainment to children undergoing isolation at the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital. Having fun to raise the immune system is needed in this condition," Director of Balai Pustaka Dewananda Wardana stated here Wednesday.

The aid comprising one thousand copies of children's reading books, coloring books, and colored pencils was distributed to mark National Children's Day that fell on July 22, 2021.

Balai Pustaka is a state-owned publishing, printing, and multimedia company that has made a notable contribution to education and literacy in Indonesia, while Farmalab, a subsidiary of Indofarma, is a laboratory that runs equivalence tests, both BA-BE and dissolution tests.

The package distribution process was attended by Wardana as director of Balai Pustaka, Subiyanto as corporate secretary of Balai Pustaka, Arie Genipa Suhendi as director of PT Farmalab Indoutama, Heri Kurniawan as assistant director, and other Balai Pustaka and Farmalab working teams.

According to Director of PT Farmalab Indoutama Suhendi, children's book reading and coloring activities are expected to enhance their immune system while undergoing isolation to enable swifter recovery from COVID-19.

Balai Pustaka also organized a vaccination program at its office. The activity was a form of corporate social responsibility toward the residents around the office.

The COVID-19 vaccination center at Balai Pustaka involved Balai Pustaka, Palmeriam Health Center, Matraman Sub-district, Santa Carolus Hospital, Semen Indonesia Group, Pertamina Drill, and Farmalab.

The vaccination event, being held until August 16, is chiefly for residents and school students in the age group of 12 to 18 years in Palmeriam, East Jakarta.
