Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government has extended the enforcement of public activity restrictions (PPKM) for regions outside Java and Bali for a two-week period, from August 10, 2021, to August 23, 2021.

"Unlike Java, which has experienced a decline, the number of COVID-19 cases in regions outside Java is rising. We also take into account their large territories in the decision to extend the restrictions for two weeks," Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto stated at a virtual press conference here on Monday.

Furthermore, the minister remarked that PPKM level 4 will be enforced in 45 districts and cities outside Java and Bali. Other 320 districts and cities will implement PPKM level 3, while 39 districts and cities will enforce PPKM level 2.

The minister noted that several different regulations were in place for the enforcement of PPKM outside Java and Bali.

In regions implementing PPKM level 3, face-to-face teaching and learning activities are permitted at a maximum of 50-percent capacity.

Export-oriented industries and their supporting sectors can continue to operate at 100-percent capacity. However, if there is a COVID-19 industrial cluster, the area will be closed for five days.
