Head of the Central Jakarta Sub-Department of Health Service Erizon Safari spoke of having enforced an integrity pact for hospitals and health facilities to ensure that only health workers employed there received the third dose of the Moderna vaccine.
"We seek an integrity pact from hospitals and other health facilities to only inject the Moderna vaccine to their medical staff," Safari noted here on Tuesday.
The integrity pact was enforced on account of the limited number of doses of the Moderna vaccine. Only functional health workers focused on dealing with COVID-19 will receive the injection, he emphasized.
The Regional Central Hospital (RSUD) Tarakan, Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Dr. Mintohardjo Navy Hospital, and several community health centers in Central Jakarta had administered the booster injections.
"We already have data and information on the number of Moderna vaccine recipients, but the figure might be more since there are several incoming health workers in hospitals," Safari explained.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan had earlier emphasized that 102 thousand doses of the Moderna vaccine were currently available for administration as the third dose exclusively for medical and health workers.
"Our current stock of Moderna vaccine reaches 102 thousand doses. All of them will be distributed for medical personnel," Baswedan pointed out.
The governor explained that the third dose of the vaccine can offer additional immune protection when health workers conduct their duties at hospitals and other health facilities that have higher transmission rates.
Jakarta had begun the third stage of vaccination for health workers since July 24, 2021.
