Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that the 2022 state budget (APBN) policy draft focused on supporting the acceleration of Indonesia's social and economic recovery.

"The government plans a fiscal policy that remains expansive to support the acceleration of socio-economic recovery and is also consolidative to make the state budget healthy by strengthening structural reforms," President Jokowi noted in his state budget speech on the 2022 fiscal year at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta.

During the meeting, Jokowi highlighted six key areas of focus of the government in implementing the 2022 state budget policy.

Firstly, the government will continue efforts to handle COVID-19 by persistently prioritizing the health sector. Furthermore, the government will maintain the sustainability of social protection programs for the poor and vulnerable people.

"Third, strengthening the agenda of increasing excellent and competitive human resources with integrity," the head of state remarked.

Jokowi noted that the fourth area of focus of the 2022 State Budget policy was to continue infrastructure development and enhance technology adaptation capabilities.

The fifth focus aims to strengthen fiscal decentralization to boost welfare that is equitable across regions.

"Sixth, continuing budgeting reform by implementing zero-based budgeting to encourage more efficient spending, strengthening central and regional synergies, focusing on priority and result-based programs, as well as taking precautionary measures against uncertainty," the president explained.
