Jakarta (ANTARA) - At the 55th anniversary commemoration of PT Berdikari on Monday, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahudin Uno said he expects this state-owned livestock company to continue to provide quality meat and processed products to the community.

"On this great occasion, I expect that PT Berdikari (Persero) will continue to be able to provide the supply of quality meat and processed products, which, of course, is very much needed by the public," he remarked at the virtual commemoration and launch of the company's BeBest retail product brand in Jakarta on Monday.

The minister congratulated the company on the launch of the BeBest brand and a Berdikari meat outlet distribution channel.

"Hopefully, with increasing age, Berdikari will continue to innovate and adapt so that it becomes a producer that grows sustainably and is able to create the widest possible employment opportunities," Uno said.

The COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet so the public must continue to follow the health protocols, he reiterated.

"The pandemic is not over, let's continue to adhere to strict health protocols wherever and whenever we are. Because we have to suppress the spread of the pandemic. Let's rise up in difficult times to win against COVID, together with PT Berdikari (Persero), yes we can. With regards to synergy," Uno remarked.

Meanwhile, PT Berdikari (Persero) said it is offering several partnership schemes to farmers under which they can obtain broiler chicks or day old chicken (DOC) at a more affordable price than the market price.

PT Berdikari President Director Harry Warganegara said the company is seeking to partner with farmers to manage chickens or directly buy DOC final stock at a fixed price.

PT Berdikari is selling the final stock of DOC at a fixed price of Rp5,750 (less than US$1), which includes the price of vaccination, he said. The price will not conform to the market price, he added.

Currently, 1,700 partners are managing Berdikari's final stock and the company has opened opportunities for smallholder farmers to manage broodstock from PT Berdikari, he informed.

It is expected that there will be more breeders who can get broiler seeds at an affordable price, while also stabilizing the price in the market in the process, Warganegara remarked.
