Jakarta (ANTARA) - It is important to instill the AKHLAK core values — to be trustworthy, competent, harmonious, loyal, adaptive, and collaborative — in Generation Z, who will be leaders in future, State-owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir has said.

Generation Z is considered tech savvy, open minded, multitasking, intelligent, and able to think critically and globally, and it will give rise to the next Indonesian leaders, he remarked.

“The AKHLAK values are important to be instilled in Gen Z across Indonesia as their basic principles since they are the future leaders,” Thohir noted during his virtual speech at the 2021 Gen Z Freedom Award here on Friday.

He said he had implemented the AKHLAK core values in the ministry.

Lauding the award's organizers, he said: “This (awards event) is in line with the values instilled in the SOE Ministry where we also have Young SOE Forum that holds onto the AKHLAK values.”

Social media has assumed an important role for personal, professional, and business purposes, he said, adding that it also contains good news, inspiration, creativity, among others.

There are surely a number of young people who use social media to create some positive content and work, he said, adding that some have launched movements and collaborations on social media that have had a positive impact on the surrounding community.

“Tonight, I am proud of seeing the young people from Generation Z or Gen Z who are capable of creating creative, innovative, and inspiring works,” he remarked.

Generation Z is a unique generation that is growing up in the Internet era and is being raised amid the existence of social media and is adaptive to digital transformation, he added.
