Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Economic Scholars Association (ISEI) should continue to foster digitalization in real sectors, specifically farming; micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs); and the people's economic service, Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Perry Warjiyo stated.

"This can be achieved by developing startups for those sectors, both at the local and international level, and this has developed. Let us continue to encourage it through the ISEI," Warjiyo noted during the opening of the ISEI Congress XXI held online here on Tuesday.

According to Warjiyo, concurrently the ISEI chairman, this is part of the efforts for expediting Indonesia's digitalization in economy and finance as well as other sectors, such as education, health, and social.

In the payment system, the BI will continue to drive acceleration of digital finance nationally through measures, such as the Quick Code Response Indonesian Standard (QRIS), standardization of open Application Programming Interfaces (API), and BI Fast.

The steps taken by BI will heavily synergize with digital banking, financial technology (fintech), and e-commerce, according to Warjiyo.

Meanwhile, in the field of education, he deemed that digital learning, in terms of the content, lecturers, and capacity readiness on the part of teachers, should be conducted to drive Indonesia's economy.

"This has to be conducted by academicians, digital businesses, banking sector, e-commerce, and stakeholders. BI will also participate in this," the BI governor stated.

To this end, he encouraged the ISEI to actively participate in driving the acceleration of digitalization and digital transformation, especially in the fields of economy, finance, and education.

"The ISEI can strengthen and improve the strategic role for economic advancement in facing various problems and challenges amid the COVID-19 pandemic," Warjiyo explained.
