Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has expressed support for the government's efforts to continue the process of building a new national capital in East Kalimantan.

"We support this new capital city as a symbol for Golden Indonesia 2045 because, in 2045, Indonesia will be a new and magnificent Indonesia," chairman of Kadin, Arsjad Rasjid, remarked at the Presidential Palace here on Wednesday.

He made the statement after meeting President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). He was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, and representatives of several entrepreneurs' associations.

The new Indonesian capital can become an emblem of the 2045 Indonesia Maju vision (Advanced Indonesia), Rasjid said.

"We hereby support (the new capital) as a symbol of how Indonesia has created itself as a new and flourishing country and (is aiming to) become Advanced Indonesia by 2045," he added.

"Kadin and its regional chambers are a home for all associations of entrepreneurs, from micro-level to the large scale," he pointed out.

Based on the masterplan of the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), the development of the new capital city is expected to take 15-20 years.

According to Bappenas data, the agency is currently updating the design of the Central Government Core Area (KIPP), which will adjust the transfer stages of the State Apparatus, National Defense Forces, State Intelligence Agency, National Police, and detailed scale modeling.

Then, the agency will plan the basic design of KIPP on a detailed scale of 1:5,000 for housing and offices.

Chairman of the Indonesian Shopping Center Managers Association (APPBI), Alphonzus Widjaja, and chairman of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo), Roy Mandey, were also present at the meeting with the President. (
