Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin bestowed the 2020 Workers Social Security Award or the Paritrana Award 2020 on 12 recipients from local governments and business players symbolically via video conference here on Thursday.

"I express my honor and gratitude to all participants from the local governments, companies, and SMEs involved in the Workers Social Security Award event or the Paritrana Award 2020," Amin noted here on Thursday.

The Paritrana Award has been held since 2017 as part of the efforts of the government along with the Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS-TK) to increase the number of social security participants, he noted.

"Hence, it means that for four years, it has also assessed the compliance of provincial governments, districts and cities, medium- and large-scale business premises, and SMEs to implement social security regulations," he noted.

The vice president is also optimistic that more local governments and businesses would offer and streamline workers' social security services for the entire workforce in the regions.

Meanwhile, Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah, in her speech, reminded all local governments and businesses of the significance of the workers' social security to ensure protection and comfort at work.

"I remind the local government and business players of the importance of this social security in providing protection to workers and to ensure comfort at work," Fauziyah pointed out.

Thus, she believes that productivity and welfare of the public can be realized.

"Furthermore, it will enhance work productivity, so that it will boost the welfare of workers, companies, and society, in general," she noted.

The Paritrana Award 2020 is given in the categories of SMEs, medium-sized companies, large companies, district-city governments, and provincial governments. Each of these categories has the top three Paritrana Award winners.

In the provincial government category, the awards were presented to Yogyakarta, West Papua, and North Sulawesi. Raja Ampat District, South Tangerang City, and Bekasi City were the winners of the Paritrana Award 2020 in the district-city government category.
