Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, has asked creative economy players in Majalengka district, West Java to continue exploring performing arts as a leading sub-sector to attract tourists and create more jobs.

“Majalengka has been designated as a Creative District in the performing arts sector. This is an important asset for Majalengka to explore performing arts as a leading sub-sector consisting of traditional arts, pop culture, to contemporary arts," he remarked in a press statement issued here on Friday.

During a discussion held at Kertajati Airport, Majalengka, West Java on Thursday (September 9, 2021), Uno said that Majalengka district was named a 'Creative District in the Performing Arts field' in 2019.

The attraction of the performing arts is their ability to encourage various other sub-sectors of the creative economy to develop and become known by the public, he added.

As part of efforts to develop a conducive creative economy ecosystem, the ministry has continued to provide support and facilities for creative economy players in all sub-sectors through various programs and activities, the minister noted.

One of the programs being encouraged is the Development of Indonesian Creative Districts and Cities, which aims to explore, utilize, develop, manage, and conserve creativity and utilize science, technology, art, and culture to develop local potential, he said.

"With the increasing creative economy in Indonesia, it opens up great opportunities for the emergence of new businesses that can help solve labor problems in Indonesia," Uno pointed out.

With the level of public activity restrictions (PPKM) lowered to two in Majalengka, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy emphasized the importance of strict and disciplined implementation of health protocols.

"The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has issued guidelines for implementing health protocols in various activities and is trying to revive the organization of events," he added.
